The patient trips referenced here and elsewhere on the site functioned in many ways as they will at Rios Nete upon opening. They featured a western medical doctor, who managed the intake process — reviewed patient histories, lab work, and performed extensive interviews to determine suitability and eligibility — as well as any complimentary western treatments such as medications the patients may have been prescribed prior to arrival, blood work and analysis.  The MD was on-hand for emergency care should the need have arrived, although it did not. They also featured a group of traditional amazonian medical practitioners who administered the plant-based treatments. They treatments include daily consumptions of the plants, topical use of the plants through baths and vapor treatments, and intense in-person healing work following their medical lineage.

The trips took place at a retreat-style hotel about 40 minutes from the construction site of Rios Nete.
